The topic of this meeting was "Integrating phylogenies in measures of community diversity", and it gathered experts in statistical methods, phylogenies, and community ecology. This meeting was funded by new "Groupe de Recherche: Interactions Biotiques dans les Communautes : Théories et Modeles", through INRA (funding has been kindly raised by Alain Franc from INRA Bordeaux). Day 1 saw formal presentations from the participants (20-min talks based on the research in connection with the main topic of the workshop). The workshop was otherwise organised around two working groups, that treated the following questions: 1- does phylogenetic diversity matter in making inferences about spatial patterns of diversity? 2- how does phylogenetic diversity correlate with environmental factors? 3- which clades contribute the most to variation in phylogenetic diversity?
