IBISCA

Investigating the Biodiversity of Soil and Canopy Arthropods

IBISCA is a tri-lingual acronym ("Investigating the Biodiversity of Soil and Canopy Arthopods" / "Investigaciones sobre la Biodiversidad de los Insectos de la Selva Centro-Americana" / "Inventaire de la Biodiversité des Insectes du Sol et de la Canopée") which was used for the first IBISCA project, conducted in Panama (2003-2004)

Since the original team working on this project decided to continue its collaboration on other biodiversity projects, it was decided during the ESF - UNEP - GCP Exploratory Workshop 04-049 which took place in Brussels in July 2005 to retain the name for the team of biodiversity experts and their forthcoming research projects.
